winter concerts in prospect park
Seymour Brass Sextet brings a holiday concert to the Prospect Park United Methodist Church sanctuary on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 7 pm to benefit Pratt School. Warm up with your favorite holiday tunes embraced by our neighborhood brass and voices! Refreshments and social time follow in Community Hall. The concert is free with donations accepted in which 100% go to Pratt. PPUMC is located at 22 Orlin Ave SE, across from Pratt School. Free parking is available on the street and in the Pratt parking lot. We hope you can enjoy this festive concert.
The Christmas season is a special time for music, especially brass music ever since the Salvation Army’s brass ensembles began playing on street corners for Christmas shoppers. Thus, as part of our Community Concert Series, PPUMC invites you, one and all, to come hear our local “Seymour Brass Sextet” play a concert of music from “Joy to the World” to “Silent Night,” from “Jingle Bells” to “The Wassail Song.” It will be a “jingle-joyous” evening!
The Seymour Brass Sextet is made up of: Tuba (bass voice): Derek Nelson | Euphonium (baritone voice): Marilee Johnson | Trombone (tenor voice): Brad Voves | French Horn (alto voice): Bob Garnett | Trumpets (soprano voices): KP Powell and Jake Gysland.
The Prospect Park Community Choir hosts two performances a year at the Prospect Park United Methodist Church. The Winter Concert is typically in December and features holiday music, while the Spring concert features a variety of musical pieces with a different theme each year.
